Meet Richard Hild

Basic real estate. That's how I've done real estate since 1975, when I got my first real estate broker's license in Illinois.

Basic real estate is not exotic. It's one step in front of the other. This belief has been successful not only for me, but for all my buyers and sellers.

• When a property is listed for sale, I learn everything that's possible to learn about it. This allows me to match my buyers to the right property for them.
• I make sure that the property I list is exposed to as many people as possible in as many ways as possible. No one can predict where a buyer will come from. It could be from advertising, a neighbor, the MLS, the internet, or another Realtor.

I've successfully practised my brand of basic real estate in Hyde Park, Illinois, and Seattle, Washington, where I had my own office in the Ballard area. True to my basic real estate philosophy of "one step in front of the other", I knocked on a minimum 1200 doors per month in order to introduce my real estate business in Seattle to as many people as possible.

Nadine and I came to Port Townsend in 1989 to build a boat with the master - Cecil Lange. We fell in love with the place and the people and decided to move here. I closed the doors on my real estate office in Seattle, and became a member of the team at John L Scott (then ERA). Although I no longer knock on 1200 doors per month (in Port Townsend, that would be a good portion of the total population!), I continue with my perserverance and enthusiasm for my profession.

What I love most about Port Townsend is the people. They're unique, solid, well-educated, and have incredible backgrounds. I simply adore the humanity of the Port Townsend area. And the weather's pretty nice, too!

Nadine and I live just outside of the Port Townsend city limits in our home on 9+ acres. We have an airstrip on the property, which allows me to enjoy my passion of flying my plane - when I'm not enjoying real estate, that is. We both are avid gardeners and are working at becoming self-sufficient by growing all of our own food.
